A Thoughtful, Grounded Approach to Change
Life can narrow over time—through anxiety, avoidance, overthinking, loss, or major transitions. Many people come to therapy able to understand their experiences intellectually, yet still feel stuck in patterns that don’t seem to shift in daily life.- Sophie Bailowitz

Therapy for adults facing anxiety, OCD, grief, men’s mental health, and life transitions in Maryland and Washington, D.C.
Andrew Pasko-Reader, LMSW, works with adults navigating anxiety, OCD, grief and loss, men’s mental health, and major life transitions. Many of his clients are at turning points—navigating changes in relationships, identity, career direction, or sense of self—and seeking support that goes beyond insight alone. He offers secure teletherapy to adults across Maryland and Washington, D.C.
Clinical Focus
A significant part of Andrew’s clinical focus involves helping clients step out of cycles of rumination, avoidance, and self-criticism. These patterns often create a sense of being stuck despite genuine effort and insight. Therapy becomes a space to recognize these cycles clearly, understand what maintains them, and begin to develop new ways of responding that open up movement and flexibility.
He also has a strong interest in men’s mental health. Many men he works with are navigating cultural expectations around emotions, independence, and identity. These pressures can make it difficult to access or express emotional experience in a direct way. Therapy offers a space to slow down, explore internal experience more honestly, and develop a more flexible and integrated sense of self.
Andrew specializes in anxiety, OCD, grief and loss (including pet loss), men’s mental health, and life transitions.
Therapeutic Approach
In his work, meaningful change happens through both understanding and movement. Insight is an important starting point, but lasting shifts depend on what begins to change outside of sessions: how people relate to their thoughts and emotions, how they show up in relationships, and how they respond to the demands of daily life. Therapy is most effective when it helps translate reflection into real-world change that can be felt and sustained over time.
While drawing from CBT and psychodynamic perspectives, his focus is less on technique for its own sake and more on helping clients clarify patterns, shift how they respond to them, and build momentum outside of sessions. Therapy is viewed as a process that connects insight to action, so that change is not only understood, but lived.
Above all, Andrew prioritizes a therapeutic relationship built on trust, honesty, and respect. Clients often describe his style as steady, thoughtful, and direct, with a focus on both emotional depth and practical forward movement.
