Trevor Irish, LCPC

A Strength-Based, Goal-Oriented Therapist for Anxiety, OCD, Depression & ADHD in Maryland

Trevor Irish, LCPC, works with teens (13+), young adults & adults across Maryland who are dealing with anxiety, mood disorders, OCD & ADHD. His clients often carry more strength than they know, & his role is to help them recognize it. Even when things feel overwhelming, the strength to change is already there.

Working Together on Your Goals

Trevor supports teens (13+), young adults, and adults experiencing anxiety, mood disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and ADHD. Constant worry, intrusive thoughts, low mood, trouble focusing: he works collaboratively with you to understand how these symptoms affect daily life, relationships, and overall well-being. Therapy focuses on reducing distress while building practical, lasting skills that help you feel more in control.

Trevor tailors his approach to each person’s age, background, and lived experience. He provides secure teletherapy for clients located in Maryland.

Clinical Focus

Many of Trevor’s clients are working through self-doubt, overwhelm, and life transitions. For teens, this may include school pressure, friendships, and identity. For young adults, it may mean launching into independence, career decisions, and changing relationships. For adults, it often involves balancing work, family, and personal expectations. Trevor helps clients notice the patterns that keep them stuck, whether that’s avoidance, reassurance-seeking, or harsh self-criticism, and replace them with approaches that fit their values and goals.

When OCD is part of the picture, Trevor uses Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the evidence-based treatment for intrusive thoughts and compulsions. In ERP, you and Trevor plan gradual practice with thoughts or situations that trigger anxiety, while working on reducing the rituals or other compulsions you would usually use to seek relief. Anxiety more broadly shows up for his clients as persistent worry, panic, social anxiety, and fear that gets in the way of daily life.

Trevor also works with ADHD and executive functioning, building strategies for focus, organization, time management, and emotional regulation, and with depression and mood disorders, including low mood, irritability, and loss of motivation. Stress at work or school, burnout from work, school, or caregiving pressure, relationship and communication challenges, difficulty managing emotions, and the pull of perfectionism and harsh self-criticism are regular parts of his work.

Trevor listens with empathy and draws out the strength his clients already have, so they can see it, trust it, and use it.

Therapeutic Approach

Trevor uses a strength-based, goal-oriented, and empathetic approach grounded in evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), mindfulness-based techniques, and solution-focused therapy.

CBT examines how your thoughts, feelings, and actions affect one another. You work on changing thought patterns or behaviors that contribute to distress. Mindfulness builds the skill of staying grounded and responding to difficult emotions with more flexibility. Solution-focused therapy focuses on the changes you want to make and the practical steps you can take toward them.

Sessions are collaborative and practical, giving you tools you can use between sessions and long after therapy ends. With teens, Trevor keeps sessions engaging and respectful of their growing independence. With adults, the focus is on building skills and confidence for the long term.

Background, Education & Experience

Trevor earned his master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Washington Adventist University and his undergraduate degree from East Carolina University. He is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in the state of Maryland.

Trevor’s clinical training includes community-based counseling, where he worked with clients from a wide range of backgrounds and concerns. That experience shaped his belief that therapy should be accessible, practical, and rooted in each client’s real life. His work is grounded in the belief that clients are the experts on their own lives and that lasting change comes from building on strengths.
