Therapy for teens and adults facing anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma, and life transitions in Maryland
Whether you’re struggling with constant worrying and anxiety, emotional regulation, painful memories of past trauma, or intrusive thoughts and compulsions, Emilia will meet you with the dignity and compassion that you deserve. Change is hard, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be worth it.
Emilia works with teens and adults navigating anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma and PTSD, and the day-to-day worries and frustrations that build up until they’re hard to carry alone. She offers secure teletherapy to clients located across Maryland.
Clinical Focus
Much of Emilia’s work centers on anxiety — chronic worrying, frequent fear, or the sense of being generally overwhelmed by everything at once. She helps clients understand what keeps worry running and build practical ways to quiet it, so the day stops feeling like something to brace against.
She also supports clients living with depression, offering a place to discuss low mood, fatigue, and hopelessness, and to learn how to break the cycle of unhappiness. That work often includes emotional regulation — building steadier ways to meet the moments when feelings arrive faster and larger than you can manage them.
For clients with OCD, Emilia helps address upsetting or frustrating intrusive thoughts and compulsions that feel uncontrollable, and works to lower the distress they carry. She draws on Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) at a pace that respects how hard this work is to begin.
Emilia supports clients who have experienced difficult and traumatizing events in their life, giving them space to process and face these emotions and tackle the avoidance that allows them to persist. Her training in Cognitive Processing Therapy and Trauma-Focused CBT informs this work, and she approaches trauma and PTSD with patience and care rather than pressure.
She also works with life transitions, stressors, and individual growth — for anyone struggling with recent events in their life, such as a new job, changing schools, leaving relationships, or simply managing their day-to-day tasks, and those who wish to improve their sense of self and balance.
Therapeutic Approach
The best work in therapy is done when you feel heard, believed, and respected. Emilia strives to achieve this with every client. Therapy should be a collaborative process, working together to uncover what has gone unseen, face what has been ignored, and build something new. Emilia provides a strengths-based perspective, encouraging clients to discover their own capabilities and build confidence. She approaches every session with an open mind and gentle curiosity, giving clients a non-judgmental space to explore themselves, their relationships, their past, and their future.
Clinically, Emilia combines evidence-based treatment with warmth, compassion, and humor. She draws on many therapeutic styles such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Motivational Interviewing. Through a trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming lens, Emilia meets every client where they are, pulling together different threads of treatment modalities to create a unique approach for each person.
Emilia understands that everyone experiences the world in different ways, and that support should be unique and collaborative. Her practice is neurodiversity-affirming and LGBTQ+ affirming, always providing a welcoming, supportive space for clients to discuss, process, and explore their identity.
Background, Education & Experience
Emilia earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Maryland, where she also completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology.
Before coming to Bethesda Therapy, Emilia worked as a therapist in private practice and at a shelter for survivors of domestic violence — experience that grounds the trauma-informed approach she brings to every session.
Her training spans ACT, CBT, ERP, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Trauma-Focused CBT — a range she draws on to tailor her approach to each individual client’s needs and concerns.
